Disputed Lesson? Here’s How to Show It Really Happened

Hello! 👋
If you’re reading this, you’re probably about to make or receive a payment for a Hobbytwin lesson. That’s awesome—we’re excited to see your hobbies and skills bring people together.

Because payments on Hobbytwin now involve real money, it’s important that both buyers (learners) and sellers (mentors) understand what will happen in case a dispute arises—especially if someone claims a lesson didn’t happen and asks for a refund.

To help keep things fair, we’ve created a secure and trusted system, where payments are first held in Hobbytwin’s escrow. Funds are only released after both parties agree, or when enough proof is provided that the session actually happened.

This page explains what kind of proof we may ask for if there’s ever a dispute. Reading this before making payment helps you know how to protect yourself just in case things don’t go as planned.

✅ Who Can Submit Proof?

Both the mentor (seller) and the learner (buyer) can submit proof.
If a lesson is completed successfully, either side can request payment release. If one side disagrees or doesn’t respond, we may ask for additional evidence.

📷 What Counts as Proof That a Lesson Happened?

If a dispute comes up, we may ask you to share one or more of the following:

For In-Person Lessons

  • A photo of both parties at the lesson location (timestamped, if possible)

  • Screenshots of in-app messages or chat showing agreement on time and place

  • Location data from your phone (only if you voluntarily share it with us)

  • A selfie or photo of the project or activity done during the session

For Virtual Lessons

  • Screenshot of the video call in progress (timestamped if possible)

  • Link to the meeting or calendar invite (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, etc.)

  • Screenshots of the chat or messages where you discussed the lesson

  • A shared document or media file from the lesson (e.g., lesson notes or work completed)

💡 Pro Tips Before Your Session

  • Take a quick photo or screenshot when the lesson starts.

  • Keep your communication inside the Hobbytwin app as much as possible.

  • Agree clearly on the time, location/platform, and topic before the lesson.

  • If something changes (e.g., rescheduling), update it in chat or lesson details.

🤝 Why We Ask for Proof

Hobbytwin’s goal is to protect both the learner and the mentor.
Sometimes honest misunderstandings happen—people forget, cancel last-minute, or just don’t show up. Having proof helps us fairly decide who gets the money if there’s a disagreement.

Without proof, we may not be able to issue refunds or release payments. That’s why it’s important to prepare ahead of time, even if you trust the other person.
